Travelling to the Isle of Harris...

By Sea

All ferry routes to and from the Island are operated by Caledonian MacBrayne.

 

There are 3 main routes which will get you to the Isle of Harris.

 

1. Uig Skye - Tarbert Harris (see timetables)

This first route is 1hr45mins and will take you into Tarbert, the main village/port of Harris and you will then have to make your way to Strond which is another 30miles South of Tarbert.

2. Ullapool, Ross-shire - Stornoway Lewis (see timetables)

The second route takes you into the main town of the Islands called Stornoway, Harris is 40miles south from Stornoway and Strond (where Tigh-Na-bruaich is located) is another 30miles south from there.

3. Berneray, North Uist - Leverburgh Harris (see timetables)

This ferry will take you into Leverburgh, which is the main village of South Harris and only a matter of minutes away from the holiday home.

 

Please Note: ALL of these routes are extremely busy in the peak season between the months of April and September, it is absolutely to essential to book especially when travelling with a vehicle.

 

By Air

Our local airport is based in Stornoway, on the Isle of Lewis. It has direct flights to and from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness & Aberdeen.  Flights are operated by Loganair Flights are cheaper when booked in advance and again, also essential to book in the Summer months.

 

Car Hire

Car Hire is available from  Car Hire Hebrides can be found at Stornoway Airport. 

Finding Us

Finding Tigh-Na-bruaich

If you enter HS5 3UD into your Sat-Nav, the house is situated on the Left hand side of the road on a slight hill. You will see the property name, 'Tigh- Na-bruaich' on the wall outside and a number 10 on the gate.

 

If you are travelling from Stornoway on the A859 head south for the Isle of Harris. Stay on the A859 and follow signs for Tarbert, Leverburgh & Rodel.

 

Before Rodel, turn right at Leverburgh junction onto Ferry road, turn left and follow signs for Strond.
